ACRO vs. DBS — they're not the same thing
A DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) is designed for UK employers checking UK-based roles, and it isn't recognised by most foreign governments as proof of your criminal record for immigration purposes. An ACRO Police Certificate is the document specifically designed to be presented internationally, and it's what most embassies and consulates actually ask for.
Some UK-based recruitment agencies for teach-abroad jobs still ask candidates for an enhanced DBS on top, largely as their own internal vetting step, separate from the visa requirement. Always ask which one is needed for which purpose.
