Bridge TEFL review: is it worth it?

BEST FOR: US-ACCREDITED 120-HOUR COURSE WITH A PERSONAL TUTOR AND UNIVERSITY CREDIT

Our verdict

Bridge is the most 'institutional' of the three. Bridge itself is accredited by ACCET, an agency recognised by the U.S. Department of Education, and its 120-hour Global TEFL Certificate is recommended for 9 undergraduate credits by the American Council on Education. You also get a named tutor coaching you through the course. It is the pick for Americans and anyone who values coaching over the lowest price.

What we like

  • ✓ Institutional accreditation from a U.S. Department of Education-recognised agency
  • ✓ ACE credit recommendation — rare among TEFL providers
  • ✓ Real tutor coaching, not just automated quizzes
  • ✓ Course rebuilt in 2026 with interactive lessons and teaching-practice scenarios
  • ✓ Verifiable Credly digital certificate you can share on LinkedIn
  • ✓ Large graduate network and job resources

Watch out for

  • ✗ Usually more expensive than TEFL UK's 120-hour
  • ✗ 120 hours, not a UK-regulated Level 5 — UK-focused employers may prefer Level 5
  • ✗ Teaching-practice scenarios are online, not live observed classes
  • ✗ University credit is a recommendation — each college decides whether to accept it

Who Bridge is

Bridge is a US-based education company that has run TEFL training for decades. It says it has more than 70,000 graduates teaching in over 140 countries. Beyond TEFL it also runs language training, which is part of why it holds full institutional accreditation rather than a course-only review.

The 120-Hour Global TEFL Certificate

This is Bridge's flagship: a 120-hour, fully online course that Bridge rebuilt in 2026. Lessons are short and interactive, and you work through 'Teaching Practice Scenarios' — you read a classroom situation, choose what you would do, and see what happens next. It is a smart way to practise decisions before you are in front of real students.

You are assigned a named coach from the start. You can message them or open a shared whiteboard to work through problems together, and all your graded quizzes and scenarios sit in one dashboard. Bridge suggests around 12 weeks, but it is self-paced.

Accreditation, explained honestly

Bridge is accredited by ACCET (Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training), which is recognised by the U.S. Department of Education. That is institutional accreditation: it evaluates Bridge as an organisation — governance, staff, outcomes and records — not just one syllabus. Bridge publishes an accreditation page explaining exactly what it holds and where to verify it.

Separately, the American Council on Education recommends the Global TEFL Certificate for 9 undergraduate credits, and it carries up to 12 CEUs. Credit is a recommendation: whether a given college accepts it is that college's decision.

What Bridge does not offer on this course is a UK Ofqual-regulated Level 5. For most employers worldwide an accredited 120-hour is the requirement; if an employer specifically asks for Level 5, choose TEFL UK or The TEFL Academy.

The certificate

Your certificate is issued as a Credly digital credential — permanently accessible, instantly verifiable by an employer, and shareable on LinkedIn. If you also need a paper certificate apostilled for a work visa (for example China), check Bridge's current process for hard copies and legalisation before you rely on it.

Price and value

Bridge runs monthly specials, so check the live price through our link. Bridge's own guidance is that solid 120-hour online courses typically cost $300–$500, and its course sits in that bracket rather than at the bargain end. You are paying for the accreditation, the coach and the newer platform. If budget is everything, TEFL UK is cheaper; if you want support and US recognition, Bridge is worth it.

Choose Bridge TEFL if…

  • → You are American, or want US-recognised accreditation
  • → You want a real tutor guiding you, not just self-study
  • → You might want university credit or CEUs later
  • → You like a modern, interactive course platform

Look elsewhere if…

  • → You specifically need a UK-regulated Level 5
  • → You want the lowest possible price
  • → Your employer needs an in-person observed teaching practicum

Bridge TEFL FAQs

Is Bridge TEFL legit?

Yes. Bridge is accredited as an institution by ACCET, which is recognised by the U.S. Department of Education, and its 120-hour certificate is recommended for university credit by the American Council on Education.

How long does the Bridge 120-hour TEFL take?

It is self-paced. Bridge suggests about 12 weeks, but you can finish faster if you study more hours each week.

Does Bridge TEFL give college credit?

ACE recommends the Global TEFL Certificate for 9 undergraduate credits. Each college decides whether to accept ACE recommendations, so check with yours.

Is Bridge better than a Level 5 TEFL?

Not better or worse — different. Bridge offers US institutional accreditation and coaching on a 120-hour course; a Level 5 is a UK-regulated qualification with more hours. Choose based on what your target employers ask for.

Does Bridge help with jobs?

Bridge gives graduates access to its job network and resources. It cannot guarantee a job, visa or salary — those depend on your passport, degree, employer and local law.
